How to Optimize Your Home Delivery Route
You can use Farmigo to export your Home Delivery or Pick-up Routes and import them into any routing software that will accept a .csv import. Based on feedback from Farmigo users we have developed integrations with Route Savvy and Cigo.
How to use Farmigo with Route Savvy
Route Savvy will automatically optimize the route and help you plan the most efficient route. RouteSavvy can optimize hundreds of routes, show multiple routes on the screen at the same time, and saves time and money that goes straight to the bottom line. RouteSavvy also is a MapPoint & Streets & Trips alternative.
1. Create an account with Route Savvy.
2. Export the route or routes you would like to optimize from the Farmigo Dashboard.
2. Export the route or routes you would like to optimize from the Farmigo Dashboard.
- Go to Logistics --> All Routes
- Check the boxes for the routes you would like to export
- Click the Route Savvy Export button. The system will export a .csv file with a column that identifies each route name. Once you import the file into Route Savvy, it will create a file for each route. Best practice tip - export one delivery route day at a time.
- The export file titles are set so that they will be mapped automatically to the import tool in Route Savvy.
- The import file includes the column 'Next Delivery Date', so you can use this column to identify the locations included in the delivery date you wish to optimize. You can remove the locations with different delivery dates or no date at all and keep only those which you want to optimize.
- If the location is a regular (non home delivery) pickup site, it will not have a delivery date specified. So, if you are including pickup sites, make sure all sites are included in the delivery date you are optimizing for.
- The export file includes 2 notes fields, the first is pickup site times as specified in the pickup site card. The second is the pickup site instructions. Those fields will be imported to Route Savvy as well and can be used later in the route directions directions.
Best Practice for Using Route Savvy
1. Generate each folder (mapped to route in Farmigo) as stops and then optimize each folder separately. Then after each folder is optimized it can be imported back to Farmigo system to reflect the optimized locations order.
2. You can switch locations between folders and then import to Farmigo. The import will shift the locations between the routes accordingly.
3. The last step is to import the optimized route back into Farmigo. Go to Logistics --> All Routes and open the route which you want to import the locations to then use the Import Route Savvy button to upload the file. Then select the file you have generated from Route Savvy.
The import will organize the locations based on their order in the file. If a location exists in a different route, it will move it to the route you are importing to. The import will not switch locations between routes in different days. Locations which were in the route and weren't included in the file, will be added to the end of the route after the imported locations.
4. After repeating the import of all the routes, the Farmigo system is now synchronized based on the optimized routes.
5. The reports from the Farmigo system will reflect this order.

How to use Farmigo with Cigo
Cigo is a routing, dispatch and customer tracking software that allows you to scale CSA deliveries effortlessly and automate every aspect of the customer delivery experience.
On the road, drivers can use the Cigo app to communicate with dispatch, post proof of delivery, log payments and easily change the status of delivery items. The app is also fully functional in offline mode - allowing it to work in areas with no signal.

Exporting Optimized Routes
To export optimized routes in a CSV file from Cigo. Navigate to Left Menu Panel > Planner > Select the Date you wish to export then select the ‘Export’ button in the top right:

Once your route has been optimized in Cigo, the last step is to import the optimized route back into Farmigo. Download the file from Cigo and change the name of the column marked "QUICK_DESC" to "Name". This is the column our system uses to order the route. Save the file with the column name changed, then import it into Farmigo.
Go to Logistics --> All Routes and open the route which you want to import the locations to then use the Import Route Savvy button to upload the file. Then select the file you have generated from Cigo.
