Farmigo Basics > Customizable Deliveries > Build-by-Credit Subscriptions
How can members choose their share contents each week?
In place of or in addition to the traditional share model - where the producer chooses what the member gets - you can set up the build-by-credit model. With this model, members are allotted a specific amount of credits each week that they can spend in the web store. The member must use or lose their credits for that week.
- This type of subscription is compatible with all payment settings
- This type of subscription can be offered in addition to traditionally priced shares
- This type of subscription can by set up as a share and/or option
- Farmigo Credits must be disabled
How Build-by-Credit Works
When members sign up, they choose a share or option where they pay for a certain amount of credits for each delivery. Then they can log into the store for each delivery and choose items that are priced by credit.
How to create subscriptions that allot credits
Step 1. Confirm with Support that Farmigo Credit's are disabled
Step 2. Set up Extra Credit Item
You must set-up an Item named Extra Credit Item equal to the dollar value of 1 credit, so members will be charged for any extra items they purchase - See below for required settings. The system can't save a share with credits without the Extra Credit item, so complete this step first under Logistics --> Items --> +New Item. The Extra Credit Item is not visible to members, but must be set with the following guidelines:
The following MUST be set as described:

Members can now sign up and choose a Build-by-Credit subscription
When the member signs up now to your program, they can select the shares and options that they want. You can give members the option to choose a share with allotted credits and/or a traditional share.
How to Create store items priced in creditsWhen creating store items, set the price label to "Credit" instead of $ (see the image on the left).
*You can use the Member Max field to limit how many of each item one member can purchase. This can help limit higher value or larger items to 1 per member (like watermelon), or prevent a member from filling up their whole box with one or two items. **You can choose which items are available as credits and which are only available for purchase. Any items priced in dollars will be charged in addition the subscription price. Members can now order items for creditThen, members can log into the store and select items that are priced in credits. If a member has build-by-credit subscription and logs into the store, they can see how many credits they have to spend at the top of the green order summary box.
As you can see below, Michelle has been allotted 30 credits for her next order. |
What happens if a member adds more credits than they are allotted to the cart?
The extra credit item that you set-up will charge members in the equivalent dollar amount for any extra credit items they add to their cart. Likewise, it will also charge any non-credit members for credit items if they add the items to their cart. The system can't prevent credit items from being added to a cart, but it will charge accordingly.
*The extra credit item only functions automatically from the web store. So, if you manually create an order in the dashboard for a member that uses extra credits, you must add the equivalent amount of the item "Extra Credit" to the member's order, so that the system charges accurately for the order.

Which Settings are Compatible with this Model
1. Store Items can also be priced in Dollars ($)

You may also set up separate items priced in dollars ($) that any member may select and be charged for separately. Members will be charged for the items priced in dollars ($) according to your store checkout method.
2. Convert credits to dollars once the member has used all of their allotted credits
If members use all of their allotted credits for a given delivery and they would like to purchase more items that are priced in credit, the credits will convert to dollar amounts based on the Extra Credit item.
